Novo Nordisk Field Safety Notice  -  NovoPen Echo and NovoPen 5

Novo Nordisk A/S has detected that the insulin cartridge holder used in a number of NovoPen Echo and NovoPen 5 batches may crack or break if exposed to certain chemicals in some household products, such as cleaning agent, sunscreen and food grease.  Certain batches are affected and patients are advised to the NovoNordisk Customer Care Line on 0845 600 5055 to check their device and/or to request a replacement.

  • You think you need to go to A&E or need another urgent care service.
  • You don’t know who to call or do not have a GP to call
  • You need health information or reassurance about what to do next.

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given appropriate advice.  If necessary, arrangements will be made for a consultation with a healthcare professional either at home or at:
Nottingham Emergency Medical Services at 484 Derby Road, Nottingham NG7 2GT.

For less urgent needs, contact the surgery or local pharmacist in the usual way.

Walk in Centre (Nurse Led Service)   

The NHS Walk-in Centre is located on:
London Road next to the BBC at Seaton House, City Link, Nottingham NG2 4LA.

This is a nurse led drop-in service offering health advice, information and treatment of minor ailments by experienced NHS nurses and health information advisors. The centre is open 365 days a year from 07:00 to 21:00 including Bank Holidays. No appointment is necessary.

Emergency Department (A&E)

Emergency Departments are for patients with serious illnesses and injuries. We encourage patients to call the Practice or 111 for advice before going to A & E to ensure you receive the most appropriate care.

The Emergency Department is located at Queens Medical Centre, Derby Rd, Nottingham, NG7 2UH, telephone 0115 9249924.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.


In a genuine emergency you should call 999.
Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
