Novo Nordisk Field Safety Notice  -  NovoPen Echo and NovoPen 5

Novo Nordisk A/S has detected that the insulin cartridge holder used in a number of NovoPen Echo and NovoPen 5 batches may crack or break if exposed to certain chemicals in some household products, such as cleaning agent, sunscreen and food grease.  Certain batches are affected and patients are advised to the NovoNordisk Customer Care Line on 0845 600 5055 to check their device and/or to request a replacement.

ELIGIBILITY - ALL REGISTERED PATIENTS, WHO ARE:

 

  • OVER 65 YEAR OLDS (or those who will be 65 by 31st March 2018)
  • CURRENTLY PREGNANT
  • PEOPLE LIVING IN LONG STAY RESIDENTIAL OR NURSING HOMES
  • ANYONE WHO IS THE MAIN CARER FOR AN ELDERLY OR DISABLED PERSON OR ANYONE IN RECEIPT OF CARER’S ALLOWANCE (YOU NEED TO BRING PROOF OF YOUR CLAIM)
  • CHILDREN THAT ARE TWO AND THREE (BUT NOT 4 YEARS OR OLDER) – NASAL VACCINE ONLY
  • PEOPLE AGED 6 MONTHS AND OLDER THAT ARE IN THE FOLLOWING AT RISK GROUPS:
  • CHRONIC LONG TERM RESPIRATORY DISEASE SUCH AS ASTHMA, WHICH REQUIRES AN INHALER OR TABLET STEROID TREATMENT
  • CHONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD) OR BRONCHITIS
  • CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE AT STAGE 3, 4 OR 5
  • CHRONIC LIVER DISEASE, SUCH AS HEPATITIS
  • A NEUROLOGICAL CONDITION SUCH AS PARKINSON’S DISEASE, MOTOR NEURONE DISEASE, CEREBRAL PALSY OR LEARNING DISABILITY
  • SPLENIC DYSFUNCTION

  • OVERWEIGHT WITH A BMI OF 40 AND ABOVE
  • WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEM DUE TO DISEASE SUCH AS CANCER AND HIV

  • HEART DISEASE, SUCH AS HEART FAILURE

As a Rushcliffe patient you can now access routine appointments in the evenings and at weekends. These appointments are best suited for things that will not need ongoing review by your usual practice.

 

You can book through your surgery during opening hours for appointments between 6.30pm and 8pm in the evening on weekdays and between 8.30am and 12.30pm at weekends.  If you request one of these appointments, which are outside of usual working hours you will be offered a slot with a Rushcliffe GP, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant at one of three locations across the borough. The location will depend on the day of your appointment.

 

The additional evening and weekend appointments will be available at:

 

  • Castle Healthcare Practice in West Bridgford
  • East Bridgford Medical Centre
  • Keyworth Medical Practice

 

As you may not be seeing your usual GP, you will need to give consent for the GP you are seeing to have access to your medical records and to send information about your consultation back to your usual GP.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL EXTENDED HOURS APPOINTMENTS ARE PREBOOKABLE ONLY BY CONTACTING YOUR OWN GP PRACTICE.

THERE IS NO WALK IN SERVICE OFFERED. IF YOU REQUIRE URGENT ASSISTANCE BEFORE 8AM OR AFTER 6.30PM, PLEASE CALL 111.

 Welcome to Castle Healthcare Practice

Welcome to Castle Healthcare Practice, we provide primary care services for West Bridgford and the surrounding areas. We hope that you will take your time to browse our website where you will find lots of useful information about the Practice and the services that we offer.

 

Castle Healthcare Practice is a teaching and training general practice located on Wilford Lane in West Bridgford, Nottingham. We are open 8am until 8pm Monday through to Thursday and 8am-6.30pm on Friday. Our Doctors, Nurses and Administration Team aim to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.

 

The Practice has mixture of male and female GPs who all provide pre-bookable appointments, telephone appointments and same day appointments. All same day appointments are dealt with via a telephone triage process and if it is deemed necessary a same day appointment will be booked with an appropriate medical professional.

 

We offer a range of appointments with our Nursing Team, these are provided by our Nurse Prescriber, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists. They provide appointments for chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Heart Failure etc. We are fortunate to be able to work in liaison with specialist Diabetes nurses and Fracture nurses, who come into the Practice and provide services direct to our Patients.

 

The practice benefits from having other aligned provider services that work within the Practice; they are services such as Ultrasound, Diabetic Retinopathy, Aortic Aneurysm Screening and Orthopaedics.  These are all services that are provided on site, which prevents patients having to travel to secondary care to receive this treatment.

 

There is also a 100 hour Pharmacy, a physiotherapy service and a coffee shop on site.

 

The building is fully DDA compliant. The Practice benefits from having a lift which provides access from the car park into the building, we also have ramped access into the main entrance and all of the building is wheelchair accessible.

 

We have 119 car parking spaces at the practice and have dedicated parking bays for cycles and motor bikes. The Practice has partially funded the Local Link buses within West Bridgford area which regularly pick up and drop off at various locations around West Bridgford, including the surgery.

 

We are confident our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to the very latest in Healthcare News.


Access

The practice offers easy access for patients with mobility difficulties. The surgery has a ramp at the main entrance and automatic opening doors to the waiting area to allow for wheelchair access. There are designated disabled car parking spaces in the undercroft car park adjacent to the patient lift. There are disabled access toilet facilities with a distress call point.

 

For patients who are hard of hearing, a hearing loop is available.
